Dice MaK+MRC+SUBROCC - Chopper get it here
and from all digital music streaming platforms.
Boom-bap rap is alive and doing pretty well. Sunday 10 June 2018 we caught up with Dice Mak and talked about his current hit single "Chopper", produced by Subrocc and Mr C. First of all, big up to Subrocc, the mastermind behind the inspirational, futuristic album art. 2018 seems to be a great year for Hip-Hop as far as new quality music is concerned. "Chopper", however, places Dice Mak in a league of his own where he is the Kingest Unfuxwittable Dude in the Universe (K.U.D.U), as he calls himself. The beat is based in an old school boom-bap drum loop with complex snare rolls, massive double kicks, simple hat, a chime and very moving rhythmic baseline. A lone digital piano suspends everything else in an imaginary space... while the beat calls your attention and emotions away to some futuristic place where boom-bap is a way of life. Subrocc did what we know him for, justice on the beats, but this time with a qfuturistic approach. He depicts this in the album art too with a metallic gold arm and spinning vinyl theme. 'Rocky' means serious business as a producer and hip-hop DJ, and he is a blessing to the culture. Competitive athleticism seems to run deep in his bone marrow. The beat is as fresh as a neophyte, and you find your head and body rocking unconsciously in a harmonious rhythm in appreciation of such a great cut.
Dice almost immediately launches into bars that show great care and craft, telling us why today is a beautiful day to f**k shit up. He intelligently codes messages and warnings for anyone trying to test his silent persona and how those are dealt with in the world of Dice Makgothi. Lines like " ...why you act like king when you're a customer?..." are an example. Skilled pro that he is, he makes the character incredibly believable, and he listener is captivated by the various scenes he describes. From hustling and making ends meet to settling things for much lesser. This jam was purely masterminded by Subrocc, as Dice has said while expressing his gratitude to Subrocc in a live telephone interview. "Pressure don't burst pipes, pipes burst pressure". Consider yourselves warned folks. This song is going down as one of the classics in SA Rap history.
This three song project landed on friday 16 march 2018 on all digital platforms, casting 4 extraterestrial pods piloted by of the greatest african suns in underground hip hop culture, Zubz & The Assembly.
The project is coordinated by Nyambo also known as Nyambs by the old school heads, and finer tunings of direction by Thapelo mashiane. As the1st track "Rise" rose to the horizon of my ears with ambiance of spaceships landing and the melancholic bell metronome counting the pace, my heart started to pace, goosebumps all over like chicken skin....Captain 057 OXV or Prince Captain Clapmen on Facebook took to the front, Polar Bear Faced hard-puncher and schemer in rhymes and complex imagery maker told stories of betrayal and how to overcome, things like heated situations, he takes on issues around land and gold and many injustices, in a unique way that brings fresh perspective and a strong belief that yes " i will rise". the song features Eva Morgan, an independent south african pop artist, and Brendon Gold.
"Good Day' soulfuful and melodic with some neosoul, and jazzyhop feeling, song leaves ones soul with renewed joy, hope and love, this is one song where everything and everyone is insync...it sounds like harmony and tranquility in one word, i didnt know rappers were this smooth until this beautiful song, Melly Mel Biza makes his heartfelt stories easy to understand for the feel he leaves in the song, resonates with the messages he puts across, hes tall and dark, smooth and sleek, so does his raps. this is the song that suits his style even better, he makes you sit and listen and take action in your space, if you're sitting next to your girlfriend he ,makes you wanna kiss her and tell her how much you love her. Storytelling has always been and always is his way of distinguishing himself amongst the masses, Zubz Last Letta Needs no introduction, his one of the Grandmasters of African Hip Hop, many may remeber him with songs like" Agony Hags", Zubz has earned respect from the streets to the boardrooms and international bookings and meetings, him falling in love the working with The Assembly is a true reflection of a very KEY AFRICAN indeed, interms of development and the welbeing of the hiphop culture. read more about Key Africans and the The Podcast Project on https://www.keyafricans.com
